Have you ever come across an incomprehensible term like fat grafting, and want to know what the procedure is? There is nothing easier than getting an answer to this question. This is breast augmentation with fat. That is, breast lipofilling is known to most women. It’s about this procedure: its advantages and disadvantages that we’ll discuss today.
Fat grafts under a microscope
This method is based on "catching two birds with one stone":
- Removal of fatty tissue from problem areas in the body.
- Their transfer to the mammary gland area.
So you get lush breasts and slim hips, legs or stomach. From this place the essential fats are taken. Surgeons advise using liposuction methods. Body shaping by removing or introducing one’s fat accumulation has been practiced for over a century. Modern technology makes it as safe as possible for patients.
The main condition for obtaining a positive result from this procedure is to ensure that the adipose tissue remains active during its transplantation. "Dead fat" not only won’t improve your shape by dissolving. But it can also provoke the growth of connective tissue at the transplant site (fibrosis).
And this process complicates hardware methods for studying the condition of the mammary glands and can lead to overdiagnosis of neoplasm growth in this area. That is, the issue of proper liposuction and transplantation does not make sense at all. In order for the procedure to be successful, it is carried out in a sterile condition using special equipment.
At all stages of its implementation, contact of adipose tissue with oxygen is not allowed to prevent the final oxidation.
Advantages of the procedure
Lipofilling is an operation, albeit a mini one. It can be done with local or general anesthesia. The first is preferred for the patient's cardiovascular system. The main advantages are:
- minimally invasive / trauma (compared to endoprosthetics);
- high survival rates of "donor" tissues;
- minimal risk of allergies (compared to the introduction of fillers, even based on hyaluron). Allergies may be to anesthetic drugs;
- lack of visually visible scars, even thin scars;
- the ability to "order" the shape of the breast, after several months of repeating the procedure if necessary to increase the breast more than 1 size, reshape the breast if necessary;
- restore asymmetry in congenital / acquired form defects;
- using your own fat is allowed even if other methods are contraindicated;
- to correct the shape of the breast after removal of the implant, surgery on the mammary gland. Such opportunities are often used by older patients and young women when it is impossible to replace / install an endoprosthesis (e. g. , an allergy to the substance);
- relatively short recovery period;
- the complete nature of the mammary gland after manipulation and the natural sensation on palpation;
- an added bonus of the procedure is tissue rejuvenation at the site of adipose injection.
Adherents of this method ensure that fat pruning gives long -term and almost lifelong results. Opponents say that a second procedure will require a maximum of 2 years. The truth is, every organism is unique. With good tissue strengthening, the results can last for 5-10 years. Provided that you will not gain and lose weight or get pregnant.
After pregnancy, correction may be needed. But there are also known cases when in some patients injected adipose tissue is absorbed in 1, 5-2 years. And the number returns to the previous unsatisfactory.
Before deciding on a procedure or leaving it, evaluate the results of breast enhancement with your own fat in the photo.
Limitations of lipofilling
Increasing your belly with fat has some limitations and drawbacks:
- the ability to increase the volume only by a measure of 0. 5-1 per procedure (pump in about 150-200 ml of fat);
- risk of reabsorption of injected fat after 0. 5-2 years;
- surgical difficulties for very slender women (lack of material);
- the presence of contraindications (absolute and relative);
- the possibility of partial death of fatty substances during its introduction and the development of fibrosis foci in this zone, which reduces the reliability of hardware methods for examining the breast;
- little preparation is needed before lipofilling (quitting smoking, drinking alcohol, taking medications that affect blood clotting).
An additional disadvantage of this procedure is its high cost. If repeated fat injections are required, they can be more expensive than endoprosthetics.
Instructions for the procedure
The introduction of subcutaneous fat from other parts of the body into the breast is shown:
- with a lack of tissue for implantation of the prosthesis (covering its edges with existing tissue);
- women's reluctance to use endoprosthetics;
- the need for minor corrections in case of deterioration of tissue condition after pregnancy, lactation, hormonal crisis, sharp weight loss.
A number of women practice lipofilling as an experimental intervention. They look at how the breasts will look, how much they need to enlarge before deciding on endoprosthetics.
When is the procedure not recommended?
Absolute contraindications include:
- with serious somatic disease (heart disease);
- mental disorder;
- endocrine diseases (diabetes);
- with tumor growth;
- some systemic diseases;
- blood pathology.
In order not to change shape with your own fat for a while, you should:
- during menstrual bleeding;
- with chronic pathology during exacerbations;
- in case of infectious diseases (in the acute period);
- during pregnancy and lactation. You can return to breast enlargement problems 12 months after stopping breastfeeding.
After recovering, achieving remission and stable menopause, lipofilling for relatively healthy women becomes very affordable. You cannot enlarge your breasts this way if you are addicted to cigarettes. Smoking has a very detrimental effect on the durability of the results of the procedure.
Stage of lipofilling
Manipulation of breast size changes with the help of your fat takes place in 3 stages:
- material sampling (liposuction);
- clean it of impurities (e. g. blood);
- actually lipofilling or "pumping" the breast with subcutaneous fat, removed with the help of a vacuum aspirator from the problem area.
A few hours after the procedure, the patient was able to return home safely.
Recovery
The recovery period involves:
- wear special underwear, then a bra with a wide strap to prevent mastoptosis (the fabric must be "accustomed" to the weight and volume of the new breast);
- limiting physical activity;
- avoid temperature exposure;
- rejection of manual effects on the chest for 1-2 months after the procedure.
After lipofilling, discomfort may be felt for the first time in the breast area, the breast may swell slightly, and a hematoma forms in the puncture area. This phenomenon is classified as normal. They proceeded quickly. The primary recovery period ends in 2-4 weeks.
Until the puncture site healed, they were treated with a local antiseptic as directed by the doctor. It is possible to fully evaluate the results of lipofilling in six months.
